Blindness is complete visual deficiency, whether congenital or acquired.
Total blindness refers to the inability to perceive light, while severe blindness is used for visual acuity below 1/50 (residual sight limited to being able to make out shapes).
People who are blind or who suffer from severe visual impairment use screen-reading software to access digital content.
Screen-reading software reproduces information, either in audio format using voice synthesis, or in the form of Braille using a refreshable Braille display.
